Alton is a former Corporal of the United States Marines. He served as an infantryman assigned to 1/2 Bravo Company at Camp Lejeune North Carolina, and deployed to Iraq with the 24th MEU in 2004 while supporting the efforts of the first free elections of the Iraqi people.
Alton earned his Juris Doctor at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans. He is an active member of VFW Post 10212 where he serves as the Judge Advocate, as well as serving as the former adjutant and trustee. He is also a member of American Legion Post 346 and Team Rubicon. Alton is also a mentor in the Miami-Dade Veterans Treatment Court. Alton is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida. Matthew is a former Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He began his Army career at Fort Bragg helping Soldiers, Airmen, and Marines with family law issues, estate planning, and tax law. Matthew then deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom where he advised the theater commander on investigations and served as an advisor to British forces on their stability operations in Basra, Iraq. He later deployed to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division as the international and operational law division chief.
After six years on active duty, Matthew returned home and entered private practice with a multinational law firm based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a trustee of VFW Post 8973, the only remaining active VFW post in New Orleans, where he assists veterans with a wide variety of legal issues. He serves on the Young Benefactors Committee of the National World War II Museum whose most recent project was raising funds to restore PT-305. Like you, Matthew has had his claim for benefits denied by the VA. He started the Valor Firm with Byron and Alton to help every Veteran navigate the way forward after receiving that denial letter.
